Based in Auckland, freelance Illustrator / Designer Cathy Hansby likes to create engaging, fun and colourful images, capturing the personality and character of native wildlife from New Zealand and Australasia. Her images often feature endangered species, to highlight and remind us how close we are to losing them. How we act now has a huge impact on the future of our wildlife. Cathy hopes that our wildlife will endure for many more generations to enjoy.
Kingfisher are found throughout New Zealand, Australia and other parts of the western Pacific, in both coastal and inland freshwater habitats. The sacred kingfisher or kōtare is the only species of kingfisher native to New Zealand. The Kookaburra, another of the 86 species of kingfishers worldwide, is the only other bird of the kingfisher family found in New Zealand, although rather scarce.
Colours are teal blues with golden yellow background.
