Based in Auckland, freelance Illustrator / Designer Cathy Hansby likes to create engaging, fun and colourful images, capturing the personality and character of native wildlife from New Zealand and Australasia. Her images often feature endangered species, to highlight and remind us how close we are to losing them. How we act now has a huge impact on the future of our wildlife. Cathy hopes that our wildlife will endure for many more generations to enjoy.
Three Huia birds are featured, the black male and female (with the long curved bill), and the white Huia, thought to be an albino or bird of great age. Huia are considered extinct, however there is a chance they may still exist in the Urewera ranges of New Zealand.
Colours are a deep inky blue background, with black, white and golden yellow details.
